Football: Week 3 Recap

Nate Keller and Omar Holloway each had three touchdowns as Stebbins rolled to a 41-8 victory over West Carrollton on Thursday Night Lights. Holloway had 147 yards on the ground with 21 carries and 3 touchdowns. Keller went 15/21 with 186 in the air with 1 passing touchdown and an interception. Nate Keller also had 2 rushing touchdowns.

Bryce Schondelmyer continues his impressive junior campaign as he threw for 339 yards and 7 touchdowns on Friday night. The Trojans currently sit at 3-0 (2-0, WOAC) and will have a chance to win their conference and make a deep run into the playoffs this season behind their star QB.

This game might have have one of them most insane stat-line’s of the entire season. A total of 17 touchdowns, 44 first downs, and over 1,200 total yards made for a crazy high scoring affair. Monroe’s Elijah Jackson ran for 403 yards and 3 touchdowns as the Hornets improved to 2-1 on the season.

Coldwater makes a statement over a solid Fort Recovery team as the Cavaliers look to have it what it takes to make it to Canton yet again.

Fairmont continues their successful 2021 season and completes their very tough out-of-conference schedule unbeaten after their 24-7 victory over C-J. Junior runningback Drew Baker rushed for 245 yards and 3 touchdowns as coach Miller’s team moves to 3-0 and will prepare for Northmont to open up GWOC play at home next week.

Isaiah Bales walked this one off as the senior kicker hit the game winning kick with just 10 seconds remaining. After falling in Week 1, the Wildcats have won two straight and look to be heading in the right direction.

Tippecanoe picked up a dominant victory over their rivals from the south. It was former Butler and Ohio State football star Taylor Decker’s jersey retirement. The Red Devils got hot early as Josh Dietz got a pick-six. Jacob Kramer blocked a punt and Gavin Garlitz hauled in a pair of impressive touchdown receptions.

Wayne fell to a talented Canton McKinley squad on Friday night. Jordan Ward had a solid night on the ground for the Warriors but Wayne could never get their offense rolling as they suffer their first loss of the season at home.

Two of the top teams in the MAC met on Friday night in a showdown between two teams that have a chance to make very far runs in the playoffs this season. Marion Local quarterback Peyton Otte ran in the go-ahead score with 2:29 to go and then picked off Carson Bey on the following drive to seal the victory for the Flyers.

After a thrilling comeback victory last week, Oakwood stunned a really good Milton-Union team at home this week. Fairmont transfer Keon Wright came up huge as he got a big touchdown reception and then the eventual game winning interception to move the Lumberjacks to 2-1.

Miamisburg made a statement on Friday night in front of Ohio State head coach Ryan Day. The game was highlighted by Jackson McGohan’s ridiculous one-handed grab. McGohan, Christian Davis, and Corwyn Hurt all combined for a great offensive night while Miamisburg’s defense was solid all night as well. This 33-14 win for ‘Burg will move them to 3-0 and will setup a great matchup next week when they face Centerville.

Tyler Buescher continues to be one of the top quarterbacks in the area as he threw for 335 yards and 2 touchdowns in West Jefferson’s big 24-7 win over Greenon. West Jeff has a really solid team this year and should contend for an OHC title.

Following a close loss to a really good Badin team a week ago, Bellbrook bounced back nicely with a solid win over Tecumseh. Tecumseh came into the game unbeaten and this loss will hurt but the Arrows will still be a top contender in the CBC this year with all the talent they had come back from last year.

After a down to the wire finish last week against Mason, Centerville traveled to Northeast Ohio to battle the Gahanna Lincoln Lions. Gahanna’s quarterback Maxwell Cummings ran in for a touchdown on the final play of the game as the Elks lose a heartbreaker on the road. They’ll have to bounce back quickly as GWOC play starts on Friday and the Elks will travel to Miamisburg for another tough test.

Piqua defeated Troy in a big rivalry game. After the first quarter, the ran began to pickup immensely and so did the turnovers. Piqua did enough in the first half as they held onto their 21-7 lead and a late score from Jasiah Medley gave the Indians a 28-7 victory. Medley ran for 4 touchdowns and also had a huge blocked punt as Piqua moves to 2-0.
