Waynesville, Ohio– Cedarville traveled to Waynesville Saturday night for a non-conference battle with the Spartans. Cedarville got off to a 9-0 lead and never looked back. Payton Herron and Isaiah Ramey got off to a hot start for the Indians. Waynesville’s late run in the first quarter managed to get Cedarville’s lead to four, 18-14 after the first quarter. Trent Konnig had a big second quarter. Konnig played a complete all-around game for the Indians. Waynesville’s Kohl Todd started to get going in the second but a late run by Cedarville to end the half had the Indians up 34-23. The trio of Konnig, Ramey, and Herron made big plays all night. In the third quarter Kohl Todd continued his excellent play for the Spartans to keep them in the game. Todd has deep range which he displayed Saturday night. Todd was able to get into transition to get easy buckets and get to the FT line. Waynesville was able to trim Cedarville’s lead back down to four and trailed 46-42 going into the fourth. Trent Konnig and Isaiah Ramey were just too much for the Spartans. Both made big play’s all game. Payton Herron really stepped up for the Indians also. Ramey finished with 20, Konnig had 20 also, while Herron had 11. Kohl Todd led all scorers with 26. Cedarville gets a nice road win over D2 Waynesville 66-52. Cedarville will be a tough-out come March in D4. Cedarville will play host to Catholic Central on Tuesday, while Waynesville plays host to Northridge. Waynesville has really challenged themselves with a tough non-conference schedule which will benefit them come March. The same can be said for Cedarville, a team with high expectations heading into March.
Top Prospects (In no particular order)
Trent Konnig- Konnig is one of the most complete PG’s in the Dayton area. Can really shoot the rock, has a nice mid-range, and finishes around the rim well. At 6’2″, can see over the defense and has great court vision. Never gets rattled and lets the game come to him. Konnig is the engine that runs this Cedarville squad.
Isaiah Ramey- Ramey gets better every time you see him. Continues to get stronger and has turned into a really good 3PT shooter. Has a high basketball IQ, attacks the rim well, and can finish in a variety of different ways. Ramey can go down to the block and get a bucket also. At 6’5″, Ramey handles the ball well for his size and can take it the length of the floor. I expect for Ramey to continue to keep putting up big numbers and leading Cedarville.
Payton Herron- Herron is the glue to this Cedarville squad. Herron is a knockdown shooter and does all the little things that don’t show up in the box score. High IQ guard that plays really hard.
Kohl Todd- Todd left his heart out on the floor for the Spartans. Has limitless range from deep, finishes through contact, and has quick hands to create deflections. Another high basketball IQ guard and one of the best pure scorers in the SWBL. Todd finished the game with 26 and was still in the gym 30 minutes after the game getting shots up. Todd will have to continue his excellent play if the Spartans want to hold on to a first place tie in the SWBL with Preble Shawnee.
